The assistance is structured as a combination of:
Deferred Second Mortgage (0% Interest):
You could receive a second mortgage equal to 3.5% of your first mortgage amount. This second mortgage has no monthly payments and is due only upon sale or refinance of the home.
Additional Gift:
You could also receive up to 2% in the form of a gift that never needs to be repaid. This makes the program especially attractive for those who may not have much savings available.
